Find Out Your Connection and Take Action to End the Madness

Take Action

Call your Congressman/woman today. S/he needs to know that we won’t stand for mountaintop removal coal mining taking place in our name. Ask your Representative to co-sponsor the Clean Water Protection Act, H.R. 2169, which will end this highly destructive and controversial practice.

Find the name and contact information for your Representative at www.congress.org.

Click here  to learn more about H.R. 2169 and how you can take action.

Mountaintop removal coal mining is a devastating form of strip mining, with some mines as big as Manhattan. It’s disastrous in terms of global warming, because it keeps us dependant on coal instead of moving to cleaner energy.

At the same time, it tears apart communities, poisons water supplies, pollutes the air and destroys our nation’s natural heritage – all while making global warming worse. And worst of all, it’s completely unnecessary.

For too long, politicians have written off mountaintop removal coal mining as a regional issue. But it’s happening in our name. It’s a national disgrace!

Go to www.ilovemountains.org/mc/ to find out your connection to devastating mountaintop removal. Because we are all connected to mountaintop removal coal mining, it’s up to each of us to do something about it.

This devastating and controversial practice is the true cost of coal. We have better ways to generate electricity. The bottom line is our elected officials aren’t serious about stopping global warming unless they get behind a real ban on mountaintop removal coal mining.

It’s the down payment on ending our nation’s crippling dependence on coal.

It’s time to end mountaintop removal coal mining once and for all. Too many powerful politicians are in the pocket of the coal companies – so Americans from across the country need to act.
