Coal Summit Fieldtrips

The following field trips are offered to all Coal Summit registrants:

Flights are over Mountaintop Removal stripmines and declining forests sites in southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky, leaving from the Executive Center at Charleston airport. Van transportation from the conference site to the airport will leave at the beginning time for the flight. The flights will be in the air about 1 and ½ hours. Participants will arrive back at the conference near the ending time for the flight.

Ground Fieldtrips will be by van to Whitesville (office of Coal River Mountain Watch) and nearby Kayford Mountain (home of OVEC board member Larry Gibson), leaving from Charleston Civic Center.

Thursday, June 20

12-2 PM- Flight.

2-4 PM- Flight.

4-6 PM- Flight.

3-7 PM- Ground trip.

Friday, June 21

5:30-7:30 PM- Flight.

5:30-9:30 PM- Ground trip.

7:30-9:30 PM- Flight. 

Saturday, June 22

8-10 AM- Flight.

10-2 PM- Flight.
