May 22: Kanawha Valley Connections' second annual Kanawha Valley
Sustainability Fair, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Habitat for Humanity

Sustainability Fair is the signature event of Kanawha Valley
Connections, a volunteer organization dedicated to creating pathways to
sustainability throughout the Kanawha Valley and surrounding
communities. Anyone interested in volunteering to help with OVEC's table

The fair will introduce participants to and educate them about
economic, environmental and social sustainability. Participants will
experience sustainability through a variety of themes, including locally
grown food, conservation, renewable energy, green building, green jobs,
government and community resources, recycling, health and wellness,
economic development, culture and history. The event will feature food,
interactive and hands-on exhibits, activities for children, performances
and practical ideas for residents and businesses.
The event is funded in part through a $10,000 grant from the Sustainable
Kanawha Valley Initiative. Volunteers from Bridgemont Community and
Technical College, Charleston Area Alliance, Create WV, Habitat for
Humanity of Kanawha and Putnam County, Step by Step, Unitarian
Universalist Congregation, West Virginia Citizens Action Education Fund
and West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection are planning
and promoting this year's event. Anyone interested in helping should

All businesses, organizations and individuals with green or sustainable
products, services or practices are invited to participate. Call
304-941-3281 to request Exhibitor application packets. Applications must
be received by April 22, 2010. There is no cost to exhibit. |
