Coal River Mountain Watch is a small grassroots organization located in the Coal River Valley of WV, in the heart of one of the many battlefi elds where mountain top removal is taking place. The mission of Coal River Mountain Watch is to stop the destruction of our communities and the environment by mountaintop removal mining, to improve the quality of life in our communities and to help rebuild sustainable communities. We envision just and caring communities in which residents are aware of and involved in solving community issues and in which public offi cials and agencies fulfi ll their responsibility to provide sustainable forms of economic development and a healthy, safe environment.
