Support Mingo
County Communities
Folks in Mingo County are organizing to protect their communities in
the midst of a proposed 2300-acre mountaintop removal operation. The
permit, if granted, would allow for 14 valley fills, which
area residents feel would threaten their safety and quality of life.
The public hearing for this permit is tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 9)
at 6 p.m. at the Burch Elementary School in Delbarton, WV.
You can support residents and OVEC members living near this proposed
permit by asking CONSOL Energy and the WV Department of
Environmental Protection to "listen to the people of Mingo County
and make the necessary changes in the permit to keep their homes
safe and their quality of life intact. Consider their requests at
the hearing tomorrow night."
Consol Energy - Ask to leave a message for Thomas Hoffman at
412-831-4060.
WV DEP, Logan Office - ask to leave a message for Benny Campbell or
Larry Ault at 304- 792-7250
Call Patricia, OVEC organizer in Mingo County at 304-475-3873 if you
have any questions, or e-mail

Support Clean
Elections in West Virginia

in West Virginia. Helping citizens like us be able to run for
office will be a great step forward in getting the kinds of
policies we want in our state - instead of what the special
interests want. Sign our
Clean Elections Petition. Then, please take a moment
to
send an
e-mail to your state legislators telling them you support
the WV Public Campaign Financing Act. Thanks for your help in holding our
legislators accountable to the voters!
