June 3: More National TV Exposure of Mountaintop Removal
West Virginia native Morgan Spurlock (of "Super Size Me" fame) opens his third season of "30 Days" with Working in a Coal Mine. Tune in at 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 3 on the FX Network.

An article in a New Jersey paper reports: Spurlock also visits with environmental activists and former miners who assert the nation must come up with an alternative fuel source.

They take Spurlock to the site of surface mining, a practice in which mining companies blow the tops off of mountains to expose the coal underneath... Spurlock is obviously affected by what he has witnessed. "It just makes me want to cry," he said, and viewers will find it equally disturbing.

On Kayford Mountain in the summer of 2007, Morgan Spurlock, left, meets with mountaintop removal opponents, many of whom were deep miners.  OVEC and Coal River Mountain Watch volunteers were with Morgan while he witnessed a blast at one of the mountaintop removal operations gobbling up Kayford.
