Wow! Did you see 60 Minutes? We'll have more soon on actions you can take to keep up the pressure to Bring Back Jack Spadaro! Thanks so much for all your hard work on getting in oral and written comments on the proposed buffer zone rule change. We don't have a final count yet, but we know that there were thousands of comments generated. Thanks! We will, of course, let you know what happens with the proposal. OVEC MEET UP--JOIN US APRIL 14 Are you wondering what you can do to be more active in the work to end mountain range removal? Do you have ideas about what OVEC should be doing on the mountaintop removal issue? Interested in seeing a brief, moving presentation on mountaintop removal and mountain culture? Want to hear--and maybe even purchase--the brand new Moving Mountains CD? Do you want to meet other folks who are working to end mountaintop removal? Want a chance to support OVEC by buying some of our cool T-shirts? Just want free munchies? Then, please join us in Huntington for an OVEC Meet Up on Wednesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. at the Cabell County Public Library (corner of 9th St and 5th Ave), 3rd. Floor, meeting rooms 1 & 2. Refreshments provided, and we promise to have some fun, despite the serious nature of our mission. Ask for the day off work now and please plan to join us Tuesday, May 18 at 9:15 a.m. outside the Charleston Town Center Marriot (200 Lee St. E.). Massey Energy stockholders will be conducting their annual shareholder meeting. We'll be there to let them know we think Massey Energy is stealing from the earth; stealing from our future; stealing from shareholders; stealing from coalfield residents; stealing from West Virginia and stealing from each of us. We'll be there to let Massey stockholders know mountaintop removal is a crime against people, a crime against the Earth and economic insanity. EarthCop will be on hand-look out for a few "arrests" of some people who are enabling Massey's alleged crimes. More soon on this event. Let us know if you would like to help by making props, helping in planning, and helping with turnout, etc. Respond to this e-mail or call the office at 522-0246, or call Coal River Mountain Watch at 854-2182.
