VOLUNTEERS NEEDED-PHONE BANK TO GET OUT FOLKS FOR MARCH 30 Either next week or the week after, OVEC will be a conducting a phone bank. We'll call all our West Virginia members alerting them to the March 30 public hearing on Bush's proposed changes to the surface mining law's Buffer Zone Rule. The change would legalize illegal valley fills. (For more info, follow the links below.) We'll need volunteers to help us conduct the phone bank in Charleston, one upcoming evening. If you'd like to help, call the Abe at the office at 304-522-0246 or e-mail vivian@ohvec.org and let us know when you are available. We need to make certain our members know how important it is for us all to be at this hearing. If you want to see an end to mountaintop removal coal mining, then you need to be present at a public hearing on Tuesday, March 30. We need you, we need you, we need you, and we need your friends and family. Let the Bush administration know: Streams = Precious Zone. Don't change the Buffer Zone Rule! In Charleston, the hearing is Tuesday, March 30, at the Charleston Civic Center, Room 206, 200 Civic Center Drive. Click here for other hearing locations. Click here for background information.
