TREE HUGGER'S BALL LINE-UP COMPLETE 

Get out your dancin' shoes. The 2003 Tree Huggers' Ball musicians are: Paige Delporto, the Common Land Band, Them Others and Big Rock and the CandyAss Mountain Boys. Raffle items include a beautiful vase by artist Joe Lung, a massage, and much more. Details here.

EARTH DAY SPEAK OUT 

On Earth Day, April 22 talk to EPA Administrator Christie Todd Whitman. Through the White House website's new feature "Ask the White House, "an online interactive forum, folks can submit questions to White House officials in real time. The forum begins at 6 p.m. Eastern at www.whitehouse.gov/ask/ . Ask Ms. Whitman about mountaintop removal.

WVEC'S ARTISTS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT THIS SATURDAY 

Celebrate spring and Earth week with the West Virginia Environmental Council at our: "Artists For the Environment" event to be held: Saturday ~ April 26, 2003 from 1:00 till 7:00 pm. Perfater Law Office building Lobby - 1311 Virginia Street East ~ Charleston, WV

Artists For the Environment" ~ features works of art by artists from around the state. All art forms are included: visual arts (drawing, photography, sculpture, pottery, painting, mixed media, textiles, jewelry etc.); poetry; writing; music; theatrical and dance.

Highlights Include: Raffle Drawing of Mark Blumenstein sculpture; Live Music by Michael Lipton, Ammed Solomen & others; Silent auction of various artwork & eclectic items; Artists selling their work ~ lots of interesting pieces!; Poetry Readings; Dance performance by Jude Binder; Chair massages; Selection of healthy refreshments & decadent goodies!; West Virginia wine and Home-brew beer.

TO WRITE THE RIGHT STUFF 

A wonderful nature writer, Chris Camuto, is hosting an "art of nature writing" workshop in Highlands, NC June 16-22. This is a pilot program sponsored by the University of Georgia for aspiring writers in verse, fiction or nonfiction. It's an intense workshop week in an interesting setting, with time for socializing and getting out into the mountains.
