OVEC Action Alert - April 25, 2002

Ben Stout on Valley Fills today

Granny D speaks about Laura Forman on Earth Day

Endangered Species talk and other upcoming events

Check OVEC website for latest news…

April 25 Thursday, Tri-State (Huntington) Audubon, 7 p.m. at Woodlands Retirement Center. Aquatic Biologist will talk about valley fills at mountaintop removal operations—and what these operations do to flora and fauna. Don't miss this—Ben is truly inspiring. (Directions: Exit 8 off I-64, left at light, cross over the interstate, go about three blocks, take a right at the Dairy Queen, take the first left.)

Granny D asks us to be like Laura on Earth Day, every day.  Two OVECians had the grand privilege of hearing Doris "Granny D" deliver the speech "Be like Laura: Keep your eye on the ball" to students at American University (Washington, DC) for Earth Day (delivered on Friday, April 19, 2002). Read this amazing speech yourself here

Endangered Species Talk, April 30 Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. Alumni Lounge, Student Union, Marshall University, Huntington, WV. Charles Phillips of the Endangered Species Coalition presents: "Endangered Species and their Future." Sponsored by MU Student Action for the Environment and the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition. The Endangered Species Coalition (ESC) is a coalition of over four hundred-forty organizations dedicated to the preservation and recovery of endangered species. From environmental activists to church groups, from science associations to concerned individuals, the Coalition is made up of groups as varied as the species the coalition works to protect.
