OVEC Action Alert - March 12, 2002

Action Calendar:

New:

Tuesday April 16, Massey Energy's Annual Stockholder Meeting, 11 a.m. Jefferson Hotel, 101 West Franklin St., Richmond, Virginia. Last year, Massey held its stockholder meeting in Charleston and we were outside, picketing Massey's Bad Neighbor policy. Some folks are planning to go to Richmond this year. Contact us if you are interested in going. Massey shareholders need to know that mountain massacre and coal sludge impoundments are the ecocidal and unacceptable results of Massey's quest for profits.

Reminders:

Friday March 15, 1 p.m. Kickoff Rally for BLACK LUNG WIDOW'S MARCH FROM CHARLESTON TO DC. Rally at United Mine Workers District 17 headquarters, 1300 Kanawha Boulevard E., Charleston. OVEC is one of the sponsors of this long walk to DC. More info: Daily Mail or Charleston Gazette

Friday March 22, Treehuggers' Ball

Monday April 1, 11:30 a.m. PROTEST at the Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington followed by OVEC-provided lunch and strategy meeting. Details here.
